Laboratory Assistant – Microbiology Department

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology are currently seeking a motivated and reliable Laboratory Assistant to join our Bowen Hills Microbiology Laboratory. This full-time day shift position plays a key role in supporting diagnostic services critical to patient care.
About the Role
As a Laboratory Assistant, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to assist with the preparation, processing, and support of clinical microbiology specimens. Shifts are between 6:00am and 6:00pm Monday to Friday. Once appropriately trained, participation in a weekend and public holiday roster will be required as part of a rotating schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and handle microbiology samples in accordance with established protocols.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping and complete associated administrative tasks.
- Support culture setup and plate preparation activities.
- Manage stock levels and prepare reagents as required.
- Data entry and sample tracking using the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
