About the Opportunity

Applications are invited for an experienced full-time Multi-Disciplinary Scientist to join our team at the Pindara Laboratory, located on Queensland’s beautiful Gold Coast. With laboratories located throughout the region, this role offers a unique lifestyle close to world-famous beaches, vibrant cafés, a wide range of recreational options, and easy access to Brisbane, Northern NSW, and the Gold Coast Hinterland.

The Pindara Laboratory is based within Pindara Hospital and primarily supports services including the Special Care Nursery, Haemodialysis, and Day Oncology. Scientists working at this location are trained and competent across a broad scope of disciplines including Haematology, Blood Bank, Biochemistry, Coagulation, Microbiology, and Point of Care Testing.

In addition, the laboratory also provides support to Gold Coast Private Hospital, The Southport Private Hospital, the Southport Icon Clinic, Tasman Oncology, and Miami Day Procedures, as well as handling a significant volume of urgent testing for patients across the region.

This is a full-time role consisting of 75 hours over a 9-day fortnight, allowing for maximum flexibility. The successful candidate must be able to participate in a rotating 24/7 roster, including public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in a fast-paced environment to provide quality results to referrers.
• Perform a range of diagnostic tests in Haematology, Blood Bank, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.
• Complete all tasks relevant to scientific shifts or specific laboratory sections as detailed in departmental manuals.
• Uphold quality standards by strictly adhering to departmental quality system procedures.
• Comply with occupational health and safety policies to ensure personal and team wellbeing.
• Deliver reliable and efficient service to meet the needs of internal and external customers.

What we are looking for

To succeed in this role, you will be degree-qualified in Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience working in a medical laboratory environment, ideally including Haematology and Blood Bank.

We’re seeking someone who:

• Is confident working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a rotating 24/7 roster, including public holidays.
• Has well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong focus on teamwork.
• Possesses a high attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• Is motivated, organised, and proactive in taking on additional responsibilities where needed.

Experience across Coagulation, Microbiology, Point of Care Testing and a range of acute hospital settings is highly regarded.
