Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be required to adhere to departmental quality system procedures and the occupational health and safety policy in order to uphold laboratory standards and ensure personal and others' health and safety in the workplace.
You will assist with reliable and efficient customer service by working collaboratively with other team members, referrers and patients.
Some of your core duties include:
- Operation of ICP-MS instruments for trace element analysis
- Specialised manual and semi-automated assays
- Automated and manual sample preparation for analysis
- Renal stones analysis by FTIR
- Review and release of clinical reports
Please note: This department operates 24 hours Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 9:00 pm Saturday, and 7:00 am – 9:00 pm Sunday. Flexibility across all rostered shifts is required.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have a Degree or higher qualification in Science, Applied Science, or Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent).
Desirable qualifications and skills include:
- Prior experience working in pathology or Biochemistry
- Familiarity with mass spectrometry, ICP-MS or HPLC
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Initiative and willingness to contribute beyond core duties
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
