Position: Evening Laboratory Scientist (Microbiology Department)
Location: Bowen Hills, QLD
Employment Type: Full-time (Evening shifts are 6:00 pm to 1:30 am Monday to Friday)
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Uphold quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
- Comply with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace;
- Satisfy the requirements of customers, both internal and external, through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels; and
- Comply with the company’s “Code of Conduct” & “Code of Ethics”.
What we are looking for
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Appropriate qualifications in medical laboratory science (or equivalent)
- A theoretical knowledge of current microbiology testing practices
- Laboratory experience in a microbiology laboratory particularly in the area of microscopy, blood culture processing and urine analysis
- Experience in the use and operation of current instruments, equipment and automated analysers
- Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and also as an effective member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work methodically and efficiently, whilst adhering to occupational health and safety policies
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to provide excellence in customer service
