Position: Multi-Discipline Laboratory Scientist

Location: Mackay, QLD

Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities 

• Perform a range of diagnostic medical laboratory techniques
• Perform all tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift or particular section of the laboratory as specified in local manuals
• Uphold quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to corporate and local quality system procedures
• Comply with workplace health and safety policies and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health and safety of others in the workplace
• Satisfy the requirements of customers both internal and external through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels

What we are looking for

Applicants will possess an AIMS accredited degree in Medical Laboratory Science.

Competency in SmartLab, QAP and Auditing will be highly regarded, however, training will be provided if required.

The successful applicant will possess: 

• Familiarity with maintaining laboratory operations and accreditation in line with NATA Regulations, Scope of Accreditation and ISO:15189
• Knowledge of a multidisciplinary laboratory setting, with exposure to areas such as haematology, immunohematology, biochemistry, molecular pathology, microbiology and coagulation
• Ability to report and discuss results effectively
• High level of communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Self-motivation and a commitment to organisational excellence
• An understanding of ethical considerations relating to pathology
• A collaborative and flexible approach to working in a team-oriented environment

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated person with good interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service. The successful applicant will have extensive knowledge of pathology laboratory operation, good organisational skills and dedication to planning and problem solving. An enthusiastic and flexible approach to the work environment is essential.
