Scientist - Central Incident Resolution Department

Position: Cardiac Scientist

Location:  Bowen Hills, Brisbane, QLD

Key Responsibilities

Bowen Hills Laboratory is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist to join the Central Incident Resolution (CIR) Department in a full-time capacity.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Investigating and resolving complex patient misidentifications, recollections, missing specimens, and amended reports

• Applying clinical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve high-level scientific issues

• Liaising with geneticists and external laboratories for referred testing and reporting

• Managing workflow and prioritising clinically significant problems

• Working within a rotational roster (06:00 – 22:00, Monday to Friday) with optional 9-day fortnight flexibility

• Participating in after-hours rosters, including approximately one in four Saturdays, remote access on-call, and some public holidays

What we are looking for

To qualify, you will need:

• An AIMS-accredited university degree in Medical Laboratory Science

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a diagnostic pathology laboratory (multi-disciplinary)

Additionally, the following skills and attributes will be highly valued:

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Strong problem-solving abilities in high-pressure situations

• Commitment to quality customer service and professional accountability

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small team setting

• Efficient workflow management, ensuring timely and accurate issue resolution
