About Your Next Opportunity
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is seeking Medical Laboratory Scientists to work full-time or part-time in the Cytology Department based in Bowen Hills, Queensland. The Cytology Department is one of the largest private Cytology departments in Australia and prides itself on quality and service excellence. The positions have a range of hours from 6 am to 6 pm.
Key responsibilities include:
Perform tasks to the level of responsibility defined in the current Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology (SNP) enterprise/workplace agreement (however named) including the following:
- Adhere to protocols for processing, examination and reporting of cytological specimens as defined by the Cytology department
- Perform all tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift or particular section of the laboratory as specified in corporate and local manuals
- Uphold quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to corporate and local quality system procedures
- Comply with occupational health and safety policies and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health and safety of others in the workplace
- Satisfy the requirements of customers both internal and external through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels
- Train other staff as required
- Maintain professional self-development through membership in relevant professional bodies, participation in a recognised continuing education program, attendance at scientific meetings, reviewing scientific journals and preparing/delivering continuing education presentations at staff meetings
- Perform special duties as required to contribute to the implementation of the strategic plan and to the effective functioning of a specific section, laboratory or organisation as a whole
About You
To be successful in this role you must have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Science or equivalent and a CT(ASC) qualification or working towards CT(ASC) qualification.
Key capabilities include:
- Prepare reports in accordance with the National Cervical Screening Program, which includes examination of LBC specimens
- Examine non-gynaecological specimens and prepare reports for authorisation or referral according to defined protocols
- Attend FNAs for the purpose of rapid on-site evaluation
