About the Opportunity

Applications are invited for a Part-time Pathology Specimen Collector at our Moranbah Centre Collection Centre, approximately 250km West of Mackay in the Bowen Basin Mining region.

SNP are seeking a flexible part-time collector to work a minimum of 45 hrs per fortnight (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday) but with the ability to work up to 75 hrs per fortnight. The centre's operating hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.

The successful applicant must be a collector who is customer service focused and has a commitment to the continuous role of maintaining the high standard of our collection centres. 

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys variety within their role
  • is a proud advocate of SNP, its policies and procedures
  • Can work effectively by themselves
  • Has the confidence to work in a collection centre within a busy medical centre
  • Displays efficient time management and problem-solving skills,
  • Able to work independently

The ideal candidates will have a high level of written and verbal communication skills and a dedication to excellent customer service. You must also be able to work independently and in a team and demonstrate the ability to perform tasks in a timely manner. A Certificate III or IV in Pathology Specimen Collection is highly regarded though not essential. A First Aid Certificate (or willingness to complete prior to commencement) to is a pre-requisite of employment.

Candidates with pathology specimen collection experience will be held in high regard, although this is not essential. Successful candidates will embark on a comprehensive training course during their first twelve months of employment. Upon completion of training, candidates receive an SNP training certificate.

The successful candidate will spend 3-4 weeks undertaking paid training in Mackay.

An attractive hourly starting rate of $26.5440 will be offered to each successful applicant. Hospital collectors are eligible for progression to a Level 5 rate of pay and are also eligible for penalty rates for weekends, public holidays and some after-hours shifts.
