About the Opportunity:

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an opportunity for a permanent full-time Senior Cardiac Scientist. This office-based role will see you working 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday at the Bowen Hills Laboratory, reporting to the Cardiology Services Manager.  

Your primary responsibility is to lead and develop a small team of Cardiac Scientists responsible for analysing, interpreting and preparing preliminary reports on Holter Monitors, Ambulatory Bloor Pressure Monitors and ECGs.  Some of the other specific responsibilities of the position are to: 

  • Work closely with the Cardiologists to ensure the production of safe, high-quality patient reports
  • Contribute to the timely release of patient results to doctors and specialists
  • Troubleshoot the scientific and administration processes
  • Provide over-the-phone support to patients and collection centres
  • Assist with performance reviews, training and clinical education
  • Undertake ongoing reviews and documentation of relevant procedures 
  • Able to assume the manager’s responsibilities when needed

To be successful in this role you will have:

A Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or similar, and extensive post-graduate work experience. This experience will include demonstrated experience in contributing to the diagnosis and care of patients through the application, interpretation and preliminary reporting of Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitors, Holter Monitors and ECGs.

A Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and/or equivalent experience would be highly regarded, but not essential.

You will have high-level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise work, and meet deadlines. Your strong ability to provide high-level customer service and patient care will help you succeed in this role.

  • Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and Outlook) and the willingness to learn various Cardiology-specific applications
  • The ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team
