About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has an opportunity for an experienced full-time Multi-Disciplinary Scientist to join the Greenslopes Group Laboratories (Greenslopes and Ipswich) based at Greenslopes, Brisbane.

The Greenslopes Laboratory primarily service the Greenslopes Private Hospital, managing a wide range of services, including emergency and intensive care, coronary care, oncology, maternity, surgical, rehab and medical wards. 

Applicants must be able to work across a rotating 24/7 roster, including public holidays, with continuous rotation through all scientist departments.

The main aim of the role is to perform medical laboratory tests to provide advice for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases and other disorders, with competency gained in haematology, coagulation, transfusion, biochemistry and some microbiology. 

Some of the responsibilities of the role include:

  • Performing a range of diagnostic tests in Haematology, Coagulation,  Blood Bank, Biochemistry and Microbiology;
  • Performing all tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift or a particular section of the laboratory as specified in departmental manuals;
  • Upholding quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
  • Complying with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health of safety of others in the workplace; and
  • Satisfying the requirements of customers, both internal and external, through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will be degree qualified in Medical Laboratory Science or similar, with working experience in a medical laboratory, preferably including haematology and blood bank.

Our ideal candidate will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a strong team focus. Moreover, initiative and an enthusiasm to take on extra duties within the laboratory are required.

You will have high attention to detail and excellent organisational skills, allowing you to prioritise your workload and work accurately and efficiently while unsupervised.
