Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is one of the largest pathology practices in Australia, providing comprehensive services to patients and doctors over a geographic area throughout Queensland and New South Wales and employing more than 3000 people.
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology services the Brisbane metropolitan area and regional areas extending as far north as Cairns and south to Coffs Harbour and provides a range of cardiac investigation & diagnostic services including Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, Holter Monitoring and ECGs.
About the Opportunity
Applications are invited for an exciting full-time opportunity for a Histopathology Scientist in the Cairns Histopathology Laboratory.
The main aim of this varied role is to perform medical laboratory tests to provide advice for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases and other disorders.
Duties will include:
- Specimen Reception;
- Embedding;
- Microtomy;
- General laboratory procedures involved in the preparation of histological specimens; and
- Dissection and processing of a wide variety of tissue types including simple, non-complex and complex specimens.
A Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Techniques or other relevant qualification is required. Experience is preferred, however individuals who are graduating in 2022 will be considered.
The ideal candidate will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective team member. In addition, you will be exceptionally organised, with a demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and perform duties with accuracy and efficiency.
This role will involve covering a variety of shifts between the hours of 05:00 and 21:30 hours. Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is therefore seeking flexible and enthusiastic individuals. Please note however, that the organisation is committed to ensuring a healthy work/life balance for all staff.
