About the Opportunities

Applications are invited for a Flexible Part-Time Evening Laboratory Scientist/Technician position within the Microbiology Department at the Bowen Hills laboratory Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology. 

Currently evening shifts are Monday to Friday 6:00 pm -1:30 am - Minimum of two shifts and maximum of four shifts per week are required. Participation in a public holiday roster is required. Weekend day or night shifts may be required when appropriately trained.

The successful applicants will ideally have:

  • Appropriate qualifications in medical laboratory science (or equivalent).
  • A theoretical knowledge of current microbiology testing practices.
  • Laboratory experience in a microbiology laboratory particularly in the area of microscopy, blood culture processing and urine analysis.
  • Experience in the use and operation of current instruments, equipment and automated analysers.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and also as an effective member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work methodically and efficiently, whilst adhering to occupational health and safety policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to provide excellence in customer service.
