About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has exciting opportunities for Scientists to work full-time in their Biochemistry department, based in Bowen Hills.

In this role, you will be required to adhere to departmental quality system procedures and the occupational health and safety policy in order to uphold laboratory standards and ensure personal and others' health and safety in the workplace. You will work cooperatively with colleagues, referrers and their patients to assist with the provision of reliable and efficient service levels.

The Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology Biochemistry department is among the largest private Biochemistry departments in Australia and prides itself on quality and service excellence. Some of your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Routine and advanced operation of HPLC and LCMSMS instruments;
  • High volume manual sample preparation and analytical determination of various vitamins, therapeutic drugs and hormone levels; and
  • All tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift or a particular section of the laboratory as specified in departmental manuals.

To be successful in this role, you'll have a relevant Degree or higher qualification in Science, Applied Science, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Techniques or the equivalent. While not essential, previous experience working in pathology and, in particular, Biochemistry will be highly regarded.

Ideal candidates will have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and a strong team focus. Initiative and an enthusiasm to take on extra duties within the laboratory are required.

You will also have high attention to detail and excellent organisational skills, allowing you to effectively prioritise your workload and work accurately and efficiently while unsupervised. Flexibility to cover all rostered shifts is required. The Biochemistry department routinely operates a range of shifts with on-call coverage outside of these hours:

  • 24hrs a day, Monday to Friday
  • 6.00am - 9.00pm Saturday
  • 7.00am - 9.00pm Sunday
