About Your Next Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has an opportunity for a full-time Scientist to join their Molecular Pathology Genetics team located at their Bowen Hills laboratory. 

The successful applicant will contribute to a national consortium project around the large-scale sequencing of tissue samples for cancer patients with a therapeutic focus. Additionally, successful candidates can enhance their skill sets with clinical experience/exposure in our other molecular genetics technical platforms and genetics assay portfolio, including Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing. Established techniques within the laboratory include DNA extraction, PCR, real-time PCR, fragment analysis, droplet digital PCR, pyrosequencing, Nanostring technologies and NGS.’

The successful applicants should posses an appropriate Accredited degree in Medical Laboratory Science. Prior experience in molecular genetics techniques, especially Illumina sequencing technologies, will be highly regarded. While experience with data analysis of somatic mutations associated with solid tumours is preferred, candidates with transferrable skills from similar areas are encouraged to apply.

Available as a full-time or part-time role, you will be expected to work a variety of weekday shifts. The core lab hours are 9 am - 5 pm; however, the ability to cover hours between 7 am - 7 pm will be advantageous. Similarly, candidates willing to cover weekend work and public holidays will be highly regarded. 

Ideally, Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, possesses good communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, displays efficient time management and can work unsupervised or as part of a busy and motivated team.

A high level of commitment to laboratory turnaround times, customer service, the accuracy of processing and laboratory goals is also required.
