About Your Next Opportunity
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Scientist/Technician (Microbiology) to work at the Bowen Hills laboratory. This is a Full-Time position and the successful applicant will be expected to work a variety of shifts which currently are between 6am - 2pm or 10am - 6pm. When appropriately trained the successful applicant will also be expected to participate in a rostered weekend, public holiday and on-call roster.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Uphold quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
- Comply with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health of safety of others in the workplace;
- Satisfy the requirements of customers both internal and external through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels; and
- Comply with the company’s “Code of Conduct” & “Code of Ethics”.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Appropriate qualifications in medical laboratory science (or equivalent).
- A sound broad theoretical knowledge of current clinical microbiology testing practices.
- Significant previous laboratory experience as a Scientist/Technician in a clinical microbiology laboratory particularly in the areas of microscopy, culture reading, culture interpretation and reporting of the varied microbiology specimen types.
- Developed skills and theoretical knowledge to a high standard in the clinical microbiology field.
- A sound experience/knowledge in the use and operation of current microbiology instruments, equipment and automated analysers.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and work methodically and efficiently, whilst adhering to occupational health and safety policies.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, time manage effectively and provide excellence in customer service.
- Possess a sound knowledge of NPAAC/NATA and WPHS requirements.
