Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is one of the largest pathology practices in Australia, providing comprehensive services to patients and doctors over a geographic area throughout Queensland and New South Wales and employing more than 2000 people.

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology services the Brisbane metropolitan area and regional areas extending as far north as Cairns and south to Coffs Harbour and provides a range of cardiac investigation & diagnostic services including Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring, Holter Monitoring and ECGs.

About the Opportunity 

Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity for a flexible part-time Multi-Disciplinary Scientist to join the Rockhampton Laboratory. The Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology Rockhampton Laboratory services both the Rockhampton Mater Private and Hillcrest Private Hospitals, as well as a large region in Central Queensland.

Flexibility is a must as there is a requirement to work a variety of shifts incorporating weekend and on-call work.

Duties may include:

  • Performing a range of diagnostic tests in Haematology, Blood Bank, Biochemistry and Microbiology;
  • Performing all tasks relevant to a particular scientific shift;
  • Upholding quality standards within the laboratory by adhering to departmental quality system procedures;
  • Complying with the occupational health and safety policy and programs to ensure personal health and safety, and the health of safety of others in the workplace; and
  • Satisfying the requirements of customers both internal and external through the provision of reliable and efficient service levels.

About You

The successful candidate will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in medical laboratory science or equivalent, with demonstrated knowledge of Haematology, Coagulation, Biochemistry, Immunohaematology and Microbiology disciplines. Previous laboratory experience would be desirable.

You will also:

  • Be an enthusiastic, self-motivated person, with comprehensive understanding of a pathology laboratory operation in conjunction with accreditation requirements;
  • Have a high level of interpersonal skills, high level organisational skills and a commitment to customer service;
  • Display problem-solving ability, along with effective communication/interpersonal skills; and
  • Have the ability to proactively work autonomously and within a team, while focussing on providing timely and accurate results for our referrers within a busy laboratory.
