About the Opportunity
Applications are invited for a challenge-driven experienced individual to join the team as a full-time Complex Dissectionist.
The main aim of this role is to provide specimen receipt, dissection and processing of a wide variety of tissue types including simple, non-complex and complex specimens. The position is responsible to the Coordinator/Manager, and will work closely with pathologists, pathology trainees and staff in all areas of the department.
Depending on the role, duties will include (but will not limited to):
- Surgical dissection; and
- General laboratory procedures involved in the preparation of histological specimens.
The laboratory operates 24 hours, so this role will involve covering a variety of evening and overnight shifts with the ability to change hours as required. Histopathology is therefore seeking flexible and enthusiastic individuals. Please note, however the organisation is committed to ensuring a healthy work/life balance for all staff.
The successful applicants will have a qualification of Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science, MBBS or appropriate qualifications and experience. Experience will be highly regarded, but not essential for the right candidate. The ideal candidates will be dedicated to planning and problem solving and have well developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work as an effective team member.
