About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has opportunities for three Part-Time Reliever Pathology Specimen Collectors to join their Pathology Collection team in their Maroochydore, Buddina and Coolum Collection Centres on the Sunshine Coast.

Your primary responsibility will be taking blood samples from patients and maintaining positive relationships with external clients, GP's, and Medical Centre staff.

Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will be to:

  • Provide quality patient care for our patients in care facilities;
  • Treat our patients with care and compassion;
  • Receive urine and faeces samples;
  • Record patient information; and
  • Complete online training via our eLearning training system.

This position offers a variety of shifts, Monday to Friday between 6.00am – 6pm. Participation in the City and East weekend roster is required.

A Reliever covers sick leave and annual leave for collectors working in collection centres and the mobile setting, so flexibility will be essential. You will receive an allowance of $38.24 a week to compensate for variation in start times.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have high level written and verbal communication skills, along with a dedication to excellent customer service. You'll enjoy variety and be a proud advocate of Sullivan Nicolaides, its policies and procedures.

You must also be able to work independently as well as in a team and demonstrate the ability to problem-solve and manage your time effectively. A Certificate III or IV in Pathology Specimen Collections would be highly regarded but is not essential.

Candidates with pathology specimen collection experience will be held in high regard, although this is not essential, provided you have excellent venepuncture skills and are willing to increase your skills as required. NPS and Cardiology skills are also desired, but not essential.

The successful candidate will embark on a comprehensive training course during their first twelve months of employment. Upon completion of training, candidates receive an SNP training certificate. 

Please Note: You will need a current driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current first aid certificate.

An attractive hourly rate, circa $22.84 will be on offer for the successful candidate, as well as a relievers allowance on top of their wage $38.24 a week. Hospital collectors are eligible for progression to a Level 5 rate of pay ($27.99) and are also eligible for penalty rates for weekend, public holiday and some after-hours shifts.
