Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology is one of the largest pathology practices in Australia, providing comprehensive services to patients and doctors over a geographic area throughout Queensland and New South Wales and employing more than 2000 people.
The SNP Cytogenetics Department is the reference laboratory for cytogenetic testing for Sonic Healthcare in Australia, receiving patient samples from all states and territories. It is the largest cytogenetic laboratory in Australia, and processes all cytogenetic sample types including blood, bone marrow, solid tumours, amniotic fluid, CVS and POC, for testing by karyotyping, microarray and FISH.
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has exciting opportunities for both full-time permanent and temporary (12 month contract) Laboratory Scientists to work from the Cytogenetics Department in Bowen Hills, Brisbane.
The main aim of this varied role is to perform laboratory and associated functions.

To be considered, applicants must have previous cytogenetic experience with the ability to perform karyotyping of human G-banded chromosomes, and a tertiary degree in a relevant area of study from a recognized tertiary institution.
The positions will suit enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals able to work with minimum supervision within a team environment. Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and a high level of commitment to accuracy of processing and laboratory turnaround times.
Applicants must have the ability to remain focused on tasks for extended periods whilst seated at a computer workstation and/or microscope.
Positions are available for the day shift (within usual business hours) and for the evening shift (typically 3pm to 11pm) on weekdays. Note that shifts may be variable, and could include occasional weekends if/as required.
