Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Scientist to work from the Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) Lab in Bowen Hills, Brisbane. This role is available as a full time 12 month contract position.
The main aim of this varied role is to perform laboratory and associated functions.
Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will include:
The successful applicant will be rostered to various shifts throughout the week with start times ranging from 6am (2pm finish) to 3pm (11pm finish), plus participation in a weekend roster as required. All training is supplied on the job, with remuneration to be commensurate with the successful applicant’s experience.
Intermittent participation may also be required in some basic laboratory tasks in the associated Molecular Pathology Dept during surges in COVID-19 testing.
Successful applicants will have a tertiary degree in a relevant area of study from a recognised tertiary institution, excellent communication and customer service skills as well as a high attention to detail to enable maximum accuracy of processing, with a strong commitment to laboratory turnaround times. Previous experience in the area of human molecular genetics will be viewed very favourably for this role, however other suitably qualified laboratory scientists without clinical experience are also encouraged to apply.
The position would suit an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual able to work with minimum supervision in a high throughput team environment.
Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, and a high level of commitment to accuracy of processing and laboratory turnaround times. Applicants must have the ability to remain focused on tasks under pressure, to precisely follow SOPs, and have a capacity for independent thought and problem solving ability.
