Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology services the Brisbane metropolitan area and regional areas extending as far north as Cairns and south to Coffs Harbour and offers both routine testing and specialised testing for referral laboratories throughout Australia.

About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a flexible part-time Pathology Specimen Collector to join their Northern Rivers Pathology Team. Initial training is at the main procedural centre in Lismore before permanent rostering between our collection centres at Lismore, Evans Head, Casino and Kyogle or Ballina, Lennox Head, Byron Bay, Bangalow, Mullumbimby and Ocean Shores. Hours are between 06:30 and 18.00, Monday - Friday, with participation in the Saturday roster.

The primary task of this role is to take blood samples from patients.

Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will be:

  • Providing quality care for our patients in the community;
  • Treating our patients with care and compassion;
  • Receiving urine and faeces samples;
  • Recording patient information;
  • Completing online training via our eLearning training system; and
  • Liaising with referrers and ancillary services in a community setting.

The successful applicant must be meticulous, efficient, able to work alone or as part of a team, and have a demonstrable history of attention to detail and customer service.

You must hold a relevant qualification (Certificate III or IV in Pathology Specimen Collection is desirable), have a First Aid Certificate, driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle. Candidates with venipuncture experience will also be highly regarded.

Successful candidates will embark on a comprehensive training course during their first twelve months of employment. Upon completion of training, candidates receive an SNP training certificate.
