About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Scientist to work from the Non-Invasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) Lab in Bowen Hills, Brisbane. This role is available as a 12 month contract position.

The main aim of this varied role is to perform laboratory and associated functions.

Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will include: 

  • DNA extraction and amplification
  • Operation of automated liquid handling systems and associated clinical processing tasks
  • Clerical processing of clinical test episodes
  • Verbal and email correspondence with clients and various stakeholders
  • Other general laboratory duties

Successful applicants will have a tertiary degree in a relevant area of study from a recognised tertiary institution, excellent communication and customer service skills as well as a high attention to detail to enable maximum accuracy of processing, with a strong commitment to laboratory turnaround times. Previous experience in the area of human molecular genetics will be viewed very favourably for this role, however other suitably qualified laboratory scientists without clinical experience are also encouraged to apply.

The position will primarily be for a permanent Tuesday through Saturday roster, but may potentially include some other rostered after hours and weekend work. You will work both autonomously and as a team member in this busy, fast-paced high throughput laboratory.
