About the Opportunity
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has multiple part-time opportunities for flexible Pathology Specimen Collectors to join their Brisbane Hospital Group Pathology team.
Servicing various sites including the Wesley Hospital, Brisbane Private Hospital, St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, Peninsula Private, Caboolture Private Hospital, Mater Private, Greenslopes Private Hospital, St Vincent’s Kangaroo Point, St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital and after hours mobile collections; your primary responsibility will be taking blood samples from patients.
Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will be to:
- Provide quality patient care for our patients in hospital;
- Treat our patients with care and compassion;
- Receive urine and faeces samples;
- Record patient information;
- Complete online training via our eLearning training system; and
- Liaise with referrers and ancillary services in a hospital setting.
Availability and flexibility are important aspects of a hospital collection role with SNP. You will be required to work across various sites and must be available to work shift rotations between the hours of 5:00 am and 12:00 am, 7 days a week.
About You
The ideal candidates will have a high level of written and verbal communication skills, along with dedication to excellent customer service. You must also be able to work independently as well as in a team and demonstrate the ability to perform tasks in a timely manner. A First Aid Certificate is a mandatory prerequisite, whilst Certificate III or IV in Pathology Specimen Collections and
Candidates with pathology specimen collection experience will be held in high regard, although this is not essential. Successful candidates will embark on a comprehensive training course during their first twelve months of employment. Upon completion of training, candidates receive an SNP training certificate.

An attractive hourly rate, circa $23.33, will be offered to each successful applicant. Hospital collectors are eligible for progression to a Level 5 rate of pay ($28.58) and are also eligible for penalty rates for weekend, public holiday and some after-hours shifts.
