About the Opportunity
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a flexible part-time Pathology Specimen Collector to join their team as part of the Cairns Laboratory. Collectors are required to work a variety of shifts between 6am and 6pm, with participation in a Saturday roster also required.
The primary task of this role is to take blood samples from patients.
Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will be:
- Providing quality care for our patients in the community;
- Treating our patients with care and compassion;
- Receiving urine and faeces samples;
- Recording patient information;
- Completing online training via our eLearning training system; and
- Liaising with referrers and ancillary services in a community setting.
We are seeking individuals with advanced collection skills (or the willingness to learn). Prior experience with venipuncture will be highly regarded but is not mandatory.
Applicants must have well developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to patient care and customer service. You will have neat and professional presentation, effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
You will need to have a current Driver's License, a reliable vehicle, and importantly, have the ability to adhere to strict protocols and guidelines. Comprehensive training will be provided during your first twelve months of employment, upon which time you will receive f training, candidates receive an SNP training certificate.
