About the Opportunity

Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time permanent Laboratory Assistant to work from the Cytogenetics Department in Bowen Hills, Brisbane.

The main aim of this varied role is to perform laboratory and associated functions.

Some of the more specific responsibilities of the position will include: 

  • Culturing and preparation of constitutional and haematological specimens for cytogenetic analysis;
  • Slide making and staining;
  • Reagent preparation; and
  • General laboratory duties as required.

Candidates with previous laboratory experience including use of aseptic technique will be viewed favourably, however those without such experience will not be precluded.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as a high attention to detail to enable maximum accuracy of processing. You will possess a high level of commitment to laboratory turnaround times and laboratory goals. In addition, you should also have an enthusiastic and flexible approach to assigned duties, with the ability to work both autonomously and as a team member in this busy department.

The successful candidate, after a period of on the job training, will be available to work varying shifts Monday to Friday, and after a sufficient period of training may also be required to work rostered weekend shifts for RDO.
