About the Opportunity
Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology now has an exciting opportunity for a part-time Evening Laboratory Scientist to work in the Microbiology Department of the Bowen Hills laboratory.
Once appropriately trained, you'll be required to work a minimum of two evening shifts per week (currently evening shifts are 5pm-11:30pm, 6pm-1.30am or 6:30pm-2.00am), with the option of weekend days and/or nights available when trained.
The main aim of this varied role is to perform a wide variety of microbiological specimen processing. This involves using analysers and also manual processes. Microscopic examination of specimens is an important part of the position.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a tertiary degree or diploma in medical laboratory science (or equivalent), with a demonstrated theoretical knowledge of microbiology testing and extensive laboratory experience in a microbiology laboratory. You will also have the ability to work both autonomously and as a team member in this busy department.
You will have excellent customer service, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills as well as a demonstrated ability to prioritise your workload and work accurately and efficiently within strict health and safety policies.
Knowledge of Sullivan Nicolaides microbiology procedures and experience with microbiology instruments, automated analysers and processes will be highly regarded.
